Terms of use
1. Who we are
Peripatos is run by Stringlearning ApS, CVR 35673539, Sankt Annæ Plads 13, 3., 1250 København K, Denmark — the company behind Seier AI. In these terms "we" is that company and "you" is the person with the account. You can reach us at peripatos@seier.ai; a reply to any mail from Peripatos reaches a person too.
2. What Peripatos is, and is not
Peripatos is a place to think with a philosopher: a voice you talk with — Socrates as Plato wrote him, Marcus Aurelius, Friedrich Nietzsche — who answers as his own writings show him and remembers you across conversations. Each voice runs on a language model and says so when asked. It is not the man, who is dead; it is not a teacher, a doctor or a therapist; it does not diagnose, treat or advise on anything medical or psychiatric, and its philosopher's own teachings on death are history to it, never advice. What it says is for your own reflection, and the decisions are yours.
If a conversation shows signs of crisis, the app shows helplines for your country and stops there. It never contacts anyone on your behalf. If you are in danger, call the emergency number where you are.
You must be 18 or older to have an account.
3. Your account
While Peripatos is in beta, accounts are made by us at your request; there is no public sign-up. An account is for one person. Keep your password and passkeys to yourself; what happens under your account is yours.
You can delete everything you have said, or the account itself, at any time under Settings — at once, without asking us. We may close an account that is used to attack the service, to harass others, or for anything unlawful; we will say why. If we close your account for any other reason, or close Peripatos, we refund what you paid for tokens you had not used.
4. Tokens and prices
Talking with a philosopher — spoken or written — spends tokens. Your memory, your history and the settings never do, and keep working when your tokens are gone.
A new account starts with a number of tokens for free. Free tokens have no cash value and are never refunded. Tokens can also be bought in packs; the pack, the number of tokens and the price in your currency are shown before you pay, and the price includes VAT. There is no subscription and no automatic refill: nothing is charged unless you buy a pack yourself.
Payment is taken on Stripe's own page, by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or whatever else Stripe offers where you are. We never see your card. Stripe sends the receipt; a record of each purchase is kept with your account and shown under Usage. Bought tokens are credited to your account as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, do not expire while the account exists, are personal, cannot be moved to another account, and cannot be exchanged for money except as these terms say.
During the beta the prices are provisional and may change. A change never touches tokens already bought.
5. Your right to change your mind
As a consumer in the EU you have fourteen days from a purchase to withdraw from it, under the Danish Consumer Contracts Act (forbrugeraftaleloven). Because tokens are digital content delivered at once, by paying you ask us to deliver them immediately and acknowledge that, for the tokens you then use, the right of withdrawal is spent.
Within those fourteen days you can still withdraw for the part you have not used: write to peripatos@seier.ai from the address on your account, and we refund what you paid for the tokens still on your balance from that purchase, to the card you paid with, within fourteen days of your mail.
6. What you say
What you say to a philosopher stays yours. You let us process it to run the service — to answer you, to remember you across conversations, and to keep the app safe — as the privacy page describes, and for nothing else.
The passages the voices quote are public-domain translations, each with its source; the prompts and the app are ours. Both are for your own use, not for copying or republishing.
7. Availability and change
Peripatos is in beta: things change, and now and then something breaks. We aim to keep it running and to fix what breaks quickly, but we cannot promise it is always available. We may change or retire a feature; when something changes that matters to you, the short mail we send after a release says so, and you can turn that mail off under Settings.
8. Liability
We are liable for what Danish law says we cannot disclaim, and for nothing beyond it: not for what you do or decide on the strength of what a philosopher says, not for indirect or consequential loss, and not for a service that is unavailable for a while. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory Danish or EU law.
9. Your data
Stringlearning ApS is the data controller for what Peripatos keeps about you. The privacy page says what is kept, why, where, for how long, and how to take it with you or delete it; the page on what they won't do says where the voices stop.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. A change that matters — to tokens, prices, refunds, or what we may do with what you say — is mailed to the address on your account at least fourteen days before it takes effect; using Peripatos after that date means you accept it, and until then you can delete your account with everything in it. The version and the date at the top of this page say which terms apply.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Danish law. If we cannot settle a disagreement between us, you can bring it before the Danish courts. As a consumer you can also complain to Center for Klageløsning at Nævnenes Hus, Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg, naevneneshus.dk, if your complaint meets its conditions; a complaint from another EU country can go through the consumer centre in that country.
